What a Weekend!

Amy came to visit over the weekend from Chicago. We had such a blast! Jackson totally loved her and I totally loved spending the time catching up with such a great friend. We were quite busy throughout the weekend and it really flew by fast.

Since Amy went to Michigan State, Scott wanted to be sure to let Amy know which Michigan team Jackson cheers for. This was the outfit Jackson was wearing when he first met Amy:

On Saturday we took Jackson to the pool for the first time. He did really great in the water. He wasn't so sure what to think at first with the water being much cooler than his bath water, but after a couple minutes he was pretty happy. And he must really like the taste of chlorine:

After he was sufficiently water-logged, we decided to get out and wrap him up in his monkey towel:

Then Saturday night we decided to grill steaks and hangout on the patio:

Jackson had such a great time, he can't wait for Amy to visit him again!

We Love Our Chubby Monkey

And he is chubby! Take a look at these recent pics...he's getting more and more roly poly by the day! He has finally started to reach for toys while on his tummy, but hasn't seemed to express a desire to roll over yet. One of his teachers did tell me that he watched one of his buddies at school rolling over the other day with a lot of interest. She also told me this evening that he loves to be the center of attention. Imagine that.

3 1/2 Month Update

Just a quick update on little Jackson. Everybody lately has been asking how much he weighs. My wild guess was 16 pounds, but it wasn't based on anything, just a hunch. I finally got on the scale with him this morning to see how big he's getting. Well, he's just a couple ounces under 16 pounds. Wow! We also think he is starting to teeth. He is drooling like crazy and always has one or both of his hands in his mouth.

I Crack Myself Up

I typically put Jackson in front of the mirror when I am getting ready. He is highly entertained with himself! He just giggles away at his reflection. The best is when he starts to make funny faces at himself. Here's a quick video from today:

Closer to Complete

Having to relocate in my 3rd trimester put a damper on my intentions to have Jackson's room perfect for his arrival. There were probably a zillion little things that I would have liked to have done to help make his nursery as complete as possible. In the end I realized that Jackson wouldn't notice or care what his accommodations were, all he wanted was a loving home to come home to. And while I know we are able to provide that for him, there are still a few things that I would like to do to finish decorating his space. Scott accomplished a big one of those things this past week...his name letters!

And Another New Toy

I assembled the Exersaucer this week for Jackson. We still need to install the 503 batteries, hopefully we will get to that this weekend. We've let Jackson play in it for the last couple nights. I don't think he really "gets it" yet. He either stares at himself in one of the mirrors (which is pretty cute, see picture below) or stares at the pattern on the material. We think he will really enjoy it once he figures everything out. Maybe all the noisy battery-operated pieces will help with that.

New Toy

Last week I decided it was time to assemble the Jumparoo. Jackson doesn't like to view the world laying down anymore and I can't always hold him in a sitting position. So Wednesday night I put the Jumparoo together. Unfortunately, that was the same timing as his first cold. So he didn't get the opportunity to play in it right away, but he has spent some time in it over the weekend. And he LOVES it! He can't quite reach the floor yet for the 'jumping' part (his big toes just barely touch the floor), but he loves exploring the toys and really enjoys it when we help him bounce.

Friends???

We were out running a lot of errands today and this is what the kitties were doing when we got home. HUGE step for the kitty cats, I've never seen them this close. Maybe they are actually friends and just don't want us to know...

3 Months Old

I can't believe how quickly time flies...Jackson is 3 months old today. Seems like just yesterday we brought him home from the hospital. The last couple of weeks have been really great...his cute little personality is really starting to come out. Don't get me wrong, we still have plenty of meltdowns and struggles. But most of the time he is really a lot of fun to be around!

First Set of Keys

Jackson received his first set of keys when he was born, and he is now finally able to play with them. Here he is trying to figure out what they are and what to do with them:

After a couple minutes of pushing them around on the tray, he figured out how to get my attention:

Unfortunately we didn't get to play for very long this evening. Last night was a pretty rough night with Jackson screaming from 2-4 and a pretty cranky day at daycare as well, so we decided to do our bath and bedtime routine a little earlier than normal tonight. Here are a couple of funny pics:

Like Father Like Son

Here's Jackson watching racing with dad. He was even moving his arms and legs in a way that almost looked like he was driving one of those race cars. Pretty funny.

And here's a cute picture that we snapped earlier today:

Love My Toys

Jackson has started to find entertainment in the many colorful toys we have for him. His favorite is Mallory the Monkey (see post below for a picture of her), but he is also completely fascinated with the cow we have hanging on his car seat.

MY Monkey

Jackson has found a new friend...

Redneck Baby

I came back from a run a few nights ago and this is how I found Jackson. He was hanging with dad watching TV.
